Our story
A craft more than a century old
The Strugarević family’s opanci-making tradition began in Vrnjci as a family workshop and took the form of the Opanak craft shop in Vrnjačka Banja in 1968.

Beginnings
From a family home to a shop in the heart of the spa town.
As industrial footwear production gradually displaced the opanci-making craft during the last century, the Strugarević family preserved it in their home in Vrnjci. In a large family with seven sons, knowledge grew slowly—through work, patience and daily practice.
The official Opanak craft shop of Slavko Strugarević was founded in 1968. For decades it was part of the very heart of Vrnjačka Banja, moving between only three nearby locations.
Heritage
Old lasts, new generations.
From 1990, the shop was housed in a Serbian-Moravian style family home—a space that, together with the handmade products, created a distinctive union of architecture and tradition.
The old wooden lasts needed to make opanci and leather footwear are difficult to obtain. We therefore preserve, repair and continue to use them with care. Today, new generations of the family run the business alongside craftspeople who still make every product by hand. The current shop is on Zlatibor.
